Apex Student Ministry strives to help equip students for a lifelong walk with Christ. Paul tells us to press on toward the goal. We believe that it is essential to equip students to grow in their relationship with Christ, growing even closer to Him as they walk through this life. The Apex is the highest point of a mountain that every climber strives to reach. Similarly, in our walk with Christ, we should be moving upward, striving to reach the prize that we have been heavenly called toward.

Stuff We Do Every week

LifeLine – Sunday 9:45-10:45

The line holding the climber gives the climber security and confidence to climb higher. In God we have such a lifeline if we’ll learn to trust Him and follow His leading. In LifeLine we learn what it means to walk in Faith and look at those in God’s Word who learned to trust God and how He worked through them. We spend time in large and small groups during this time. LifeLine meets in the Upper-room.

Foothold – Sundays 6:00-7:00

Every climber must have a good foothold in order to climb higher and avoid falling. Foothold is a time of giving our students the essentials they will need to continue to climb higher long after they leave the youth group. Foothold is our large group time including 7th – 12th graders that meets in the church Family Life Center. Basketball, dodgeball, video games, ping pong and other activities take place before and after Foothold. During Foothold we spend time in worship and in Bible Study. We encourage you to bring your friends and join us.

Basecamp (Home Group Bible Study) – Wednesdays 6:30-8:30

Climbers need to make sure they have all the equipment they need to succeed and a group of climbers they can work with to reach their common goal. Basecamp is designed to help students bond with other believers with whom they can connect and hang out. During Basecamp students will also study God’s Word to discover the basics of our faith that will help them prepare for the long climb ahead. We meet in homes to provide a more relaxed atmosphere for student s to share and to invite friends. These groups are age graded and kept small to help students to better connect with students their age. Call or e-mail Jason to find the location of a Home group that will work best for you.

Stuff We Do Yearly

Hot Hearts

Hot Hearts is the largest Youth Evangelistic Event in the Golden Triangle. The event brings nationally known worship leaders, concert artists and speakers. We join with thousands of other teens from the area for this life-impacting weekend. It is typically the 3rd weekend in January.

Summer Camp

Each summer we get away for a week to spend time with God and our whole group. Camp is one of the most important events we go to each year. It helps the group to accelerate their friendships with each other and God. The camp we attend varies from year to year. This year we will be attending Student Life Camp @ Orange Beach, July 5-9. Our camps typically fill up quickly so get your money in once it is advertised so you won’t miss out.

Mission Trip

We believe our students are called to serve now and not just when they are older. Putting your faith into action is important. Mission trips allow us to put our faith into action and is a high priority in the student ministry. Our mission trip varies from year to year, but usually involves backyard Bible clubs and light construction. We have traveled to Galveston, Victoria, Mexico, Alabama, Florida and other locations. Every other year high school students are provided the opportunity to participate in an international mission trip. The past three international mission trips have taken us to the country of Ecuador. This trip has had lifelong impacts on our students.

Disciple Now

Disciple Now is a weekend retreat during the Spring when the students spend time in small groups with a leader from outside our church in a time of Bible Study. It is a great time of growth for the students and it helps them to get to know each other better. We also bring in a praise band to lead us in worship for the weekend.

Summer Thursdays

During the summer we love to get together and hang out each Thursday. In the past we have gone to Schlitterbahn in Galveston, laser tag, indoor rock climbing, bowling, miniature golfing, Stewart Beach, retreats and much more. Summers around here provide a great opportunity to hang out and have fun. It’s a great time to bring friends and introduce them to Apex Student Ministry.
